Insert a thermometer under the armpit upon awaking and leave there for 8 minutes before reading. Record the reading
and repeat the process for 3 more days.
Average the readings (add the readings for all 4 days and divide by 4). Women who are pre-menopausal should conduct
this test after your period is over, to insure accuracy.
The ideal range is between 97.8 and 98.2
Readings below this indicate hypothyroidism on a sliding scale:
97.4 possible
96.8 quite possible
96.9 and under - likely
95.0 and under very, very likely
